Vasco da Gama from Portugal was the first European to set his foot on Indian soil travelling by sea and that changed the history. In Indian State of Goa, Vasco da Gama, named after the explorer, is the largest city.
Vasco as it is called fondly, like Goa, is a place for tourists. Beautiful beaches, Anjuna beach, Bogmalo beach, Baga beach are lovely stretches of golden sand where you can either laze in the sun or shade watching not so threatening waves of Arabian Sea or if you are more adventurous, you may choose to experience thrills in varieties of water-sports like Jet Ski, Parasailing and so on.
For foodies Goa is a great place as the whole beach front is dotted with Food joints serving varieties of especially delicious food.
Apart from its beaches Vasco has a number of historical monuments as its tourist attractions like Ruins of Fortaleza Santa Catarina fortress or the St. Andrew’s Church.
Like most other places with heavy tourist traffic, Vasco streets also are filled with shops full of tourist friendly knick-knacks.
The annual colorful street carnival of Vasco is a treat to watch.
In short, if you plan to visit Goa, you must be in Vasco for a few days to make your Goa trip memorable.
